Today we created Resurrection Gardens, filling trays with soil, placing a cup on its side as the tomb, creating a path with pebbles and planting grass seed. Lastly three crosses were placed to represent Jesus and the two thieves crucified with him.
Each group prayed a prayer to bless the garden and then placed them on each home-room prayer table. Right now during Lent the garden seems lifeless, but as we draw closer to Easter the seeds will sprout and new life will grow. Here are the directions if you'd like to make one at home. The blessing is included. The project was a big hit. Everyone is excited to see how the grass seed will grow by Easter time.
