Prayer for Nepal

Mary, Mother of Compassion and Mercy, we pray for all those effected by the earthquake in Nepal.  Please be with the rescue workers and all those who are doing everything to bring aid.  Keep them safe as they make heroic efforts in dangerous situations to rescue those in trouble.  Please give strength and comfort to everyone waiting to be rescued, keep them safe, and let help come to them soon.  Mother inspire individuals and nations to send aid, and donate whatever is needed so that all affected will have enough food, clean water and proper shelter.  Mother please intercede for all those affected by this disaster and surround them with Your love and protection.  Please send angels of healing and peace to be with everyone involved.  Let them know that there are millions of us praying for them and their loved ones.  Thank you for all the miracles that have already occurred, and for the mercy of God constantly at work.  To Him be all the praise and glory.  Amen

A Pup in Motion Tends to Stay in Motion

Sammy is part beagle and part lab.  He's always in motion, but when it comes to visiting the lake in Goshen, CT you can be sure it will be non-stop motion.  He loves to play fetch until he drops.  We've thought about getting him a life preserver just because we're afraid he'll drown one day from exhaustion.  He is a care center dog who knows how to play hard!!!  It isn't too hard to capture him in motion this week's Daily Post Photo Challenge.

Life in Motion

The motion my lens enjoys capturing the most is covered with feathers.  As a kid my grandmother had a seed feeder, and we'd see feathers of so many colors.  Climbing trees as a kid, looking into nests, I think that's where I first dreamed of seeing life and the world from a bird's view.  This week's Daily Post Photo Challenge.

Happy Earth Day

St. Francis wrote the Canticle of the Creatures at the end of his life.  It may seem strange to call the sun brother or the moon sister, but this was how deeply St. Francis saw that we are related to and interdependent with all of Creation.  As we celebrate Earth Day today, may his Canticle also be our prayer of thanksgiving to God for the gift of creation.

Praised be You, my Lord, with all Your creatures, especially Sir Brother Sun, Who is the day and through whom You give us light. And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor; and bears a likeness of You, Most High One.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars, in heaven You formed them clear and precious and beautiful.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Wind, and through the air, cloudy and serene, with every kind of weather, through whom You give sustenance to Your creatures.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Water, who is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom You light the night, and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.  Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with colored flowers and herbs.

Praised be You, my Lord, through those who give pardon for Your love, and bear infirmity and tribulation.  Blessed are those who endure in peace for by You, Most High, shall they be crowned.

Praise and bless my Lord, give thanks and serve God with great humility.

Happy Earth Day.

On Thin Ice

Gulls floating on this ice.  Feathers floating on ice.
One last entry for this week's Daily Post Photo Challenge.  How to interpret the word afloat?

Up Up and Away

I have always loved to be as high up as possible.  As a kid I climbed as high as I could up the sycamore trees in front of my house.  So high I could see the New York City Skyline even though I lived 20 minutes away from the George Washington Bridge.  My BFF treated me to a hot air balloon ride for my birthday.  Amazing friend!!!  She knows how I love to fly so high.  This was one of the top ten most memorable experiences of my life.  Another entry for this week's Daily Post Photo Challenge.  How to interpret the word afloat?
